What Is the Weatherization Assistance Program?

The DOE Weatherization Assistance Program provides free energy efficiency improvements to low-income homes — including insulation, air sealing, furnace repair, and water heater upgrades. The average home saves $283+ per year after weatherization.

Priority is given to households with elderly members, young children, or disabled individuals. Improvements are permanent — unlike bill assistance, weatherization reduces your bills long-term at no cost to you.
